William ball - 2024 Professional Pilot Scholarship recipient
Hello, my name is William Ball. I am a New Jersey native, but I have had the privilege of living in many places studying and working on TV and feature film projects for over 30 years. I have worked in several roles both in front and behind the camera. However, the bulk of my credits are working on set and in post production as visual effects Technical Director on projects like the Harry Potter series and Xmen: First Class. My experience included photogrammetry for digital set reconstruction and creating fluid and particle simulations to produce elemental effects such as water, fire, clouds, and atmospheric weather.
Injuries from an auto accident sidelined me from a very enjoyable but busy career. In search of a career that would allow me to continue to be creative, employing many of my skills, I was introduced to wide and expanding field of drone piloting.
Having earned my Part 107 commercial license, I hope to gain further certifications to be operated in all of fleets of Alpha Drones USA. In addition, I will be incorporated these into my own media company and future projects, and perhaps, one day, acquiring a pilot's license, as well.
